How did we get the idea to work with deadstock materials?

"Mads and I came to realise that, as a company, the more responsible path was not to produce more, but to create less with greater intention. This shift in perspective followed a valuable lesson we learned through the production of our first collection in 2022."

  • How it all started

    In a world where overproduction has become the norm, excess fabrics are often left behind, and products continue to accumulate in warehouses.

    We experienced this firsthand with our first collection in 2022. Produced in the traditional way, minimum order requirements meant manufacturing 200 pieces per style — 600 pieces in total.

  • A valuable lesson

    However, a portion of our 600 pieces were affected by manufacturing errors, resulting in a poor fit and leaving many pieces unsellable.

    Rather than just discarding them, we started asking ourselves a different question: Could the materials be given a new purpose? How can we make sure this does not happen again?

  • This experience taught us so much! It made the direction clear for KRISTINE ELINE and gave us a new purpose.”

  • Working with deadstock means working within boundaries.

    Instead, we became interested in working within the limits of what already exists.

    Today, KRISTINE ELINE work with deadstock fabrics — leftover materials from previous productions that would otherwise remain unused. The fabrics we find determine what we create and how many pieces can be made.
